{"id":222,"date":"2015-03-27T22:23:30","date_gmt":"2015-03-27T22:23:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tomwolosz.com\/?p=222"},"modified":"2015-04-03T01:00:56","modified_gmt":"2015-04-03T01:00:56","slug":"algonquin-and-cascade-winter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tomwolosz.com\/?p=222","title":{"rendered":"Algonquin and Cascade Winter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As we get set to bit this winter a less than fond farewell, I thought I&#8217;d post a couple of winter pictures just to show people what they miss.<\/p>\n<p>The first picture is taken near the peak of Algonquin a couple of years ago.\u00a0 It was late October, 2011,\u00a0cold, but the snow hadn&#8217;t started falling in the valleys yet so I thought I&#8217;d get in one last hike.\u00a0 The peak was pretty much covered in cloud, but I felt the snow coated alpine flora and snow-banded rocks (almost looks like moss growth) gave it a certain austere beauty.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tomwolosz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Algonquinwinter.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-205\" src=\"https:\/\/tomwolosz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Algonquinwinter-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Algonquinwinter\" width=\"728\" height=\"546\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tomwolosz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Algonquinwinter-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/tomwolosz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Algonquinwinter-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tomwolosz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Algonquinwinter-728x546.jpg 728w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Spring of 2012 started with an early thaw, so headed up Cascade Mountain in March. Heavy clouds threatening new snow to the southwest gave the view of Mt. Marcy a cold beauty you can see below.
